Procreate: The Basics and Beyond is a 19-session Zoom Workshop offered by Adrienne Waller (BVCG Procreate Club) suitable for anyone interested in learning Procreate for calligraphy and hand lettering – regardless of their current knowledge or experience with an iPad or Procreate.

Event Dates & Time:

When: The second and fourth Wednesday of each month except September, November, December and June. There is one live session in December and June. 

The live Zoom Sessions in 2026-2027 are on:

September 9, 17 and 30	February 10 and 24
October 14 and 28	March 10 and 24
November 12 and 25	April 14 and 28
December 9	May 12 and 26
January 13 and 27	June 9

Depending on demand, an optional Zoom Q&A session will be on the third Wednesday of each month, except in September, December, and June.

Time:   9:00 a.m. to 12 noon MDT

Workshop Description:

The Procreate Series: The Basics and Beyond -

• is focused on providing an in-depth understanding of Procreate’s features and functions and how to use them;
• covers all aspects of the Procreate app, moving from the basic features to the intermediate and advanced features in a logical, progressive, and easy-to-follow format;
• includes lessons on various features within the iPad’s Operating System that are essential to using Procreate to its fullest potential;
• is taught in the context of calligraphy and hand lettering with practical exercises that you can apply to your own calligraphic and hand lettering projects as the lessons progress;
• is delivered in two 3-hour live online interactive lessons each month  from September 2026 to June 2027, except December and June which have one session each, allowing time to review and practice between sessions;
• the Workshop includes:
  • detailed written handouts and sample practice files, available one week before each session;
  • help with Google Drive to access the handout and practice files; and
  • a recording of each session available within one or two days and access to all the recordings until August 31, 2027.

Supply List:

• an iPad,
• an Apple Pencil,
• the Procreate App,
• a computer or laptop in addition to your iPad, to attend the Zoom sessions, as you will be using your iPad during each class;
• a basic free ZOOM account on your computer or laptop; and
• Google Drive (available for free) on your iPad and computer.

About the Instructor:

Adrienne Waller began exploring digital art in 2012 and has been learning ever since.  She started with Corel Painter Essentials, switched to Sketchbook Pro in 2014, and then to Procreate in 2018.  Adrienne joined the BVCG in March 2020 and, in the fall of 2022, established the BVCG Procreate Club. Adrienne has been teaching Procreate to BVCG members since October 2022 and, in 2025-2026, offered the year-long course to the Calgary Association of Lifelong Learners.  The BVCG workshop Procreate: The Basics and Beyond brings Adrienne’s accumulated and growing knowledge of Procreate and its application to calligraphy and hand lettering to the BVCG for a year-long course for beginners and more experienced users alike.
