From Mar 14 to Mar 15 2026
Join Sarah Widdowson and discover the beauty of Italic in this two-day workshop, from its history and basics to expressive variations and Roman‑inspired capitals.
Both beautiful and versatile Italic is widely recognised as the most popular calligraphic hand. In this workshop we will cover a brief history of Italic then dive into it’s characteristics beginning with skeleton letters, progressing to pen and ink and variations. To accompany our lowercase Italic we will cover uppercase letters based on Roman capital proportions. We will pull all this together with some fun, simple projects.
